Forgotten Art...

Isn't it funny how when you are working on a piece of artwork that is all you can think about and then once it's done and hung you start to forget that you made it? I tend to do that all the time so I thought I would show everyone a few pieces I made last year...sort of a "I remember you're there" and "you're still making my home a prettier place to live".I can't resist going through the old postcards whenever I am in antique shops...it's kind of like finding hidden treasure. Sometimes they are just ghastly but sometimes one just hits the spot. I find the ones that I'm most attracted to tend to have beautiful verses and pretty pictures. The backs are important also. Although I still feel a bit naughty reading someone else's letter, it does give you a glimpse into a bygone era.I'm never quite sure what to do with them. I thought these two were too pretty not to put them on the wall so I mounted them on some lovely paper to match my lounge room and added a little touch of fabric to soften them.
I wanted to give this one a feeling of being on stage as the couple look so dramatic.
This is a little canvas that I painted and collaged then bees waxed. I love to use old music as the words are often a good starting point for the imagination to create. This piece tends to be a travelling one and turns up all over my home. The colours lend it a peaceful quality. Just as my plants are "the sisterhood of the travelling plants" so too are my paintings!

  1. Just a quick word as I have to head up to the school to help make some props for a school play! These are very nice... I like the way you've arranged all the pieces and the postcards are lovely. The art of yesteryear certainly holds much charm. I found myself zoning in on the prose 'Because' as I'm a sucker for romance. Til next time...Andrea.

  2. Lucky for me I have seen these pieces in real life and I can tell you they are even prettier still... Your attention to detail is always so amazing and the special little touches you add to things make it even more special... Thanks for sharing my friend....

  6. What gorgeous postcards! The ones I find generally have city buildings are something equally boring on them. I must dig deeper. They are truly art in your creative hands. xoxo

  9. Hi Angela Louise!
Well, i do attend to forget what i have made too, and not before i am talking about something special then i suddenly remember. I have a long list of art-pieces that i have made, but i usually give them away. Mostly to my family :) They appreciate it very much, or they say they love it because they have a soft spot for me, hehe..Well, i havn`t had the courage to make an inquire by a shop or an art studio, i guess i think i am not that good :) Well, i think you are! I mean, good in making those beautiful old postcards into some magical art creations, they look fantastic! Love the backgrounds very much :) Yes, those small but not insignificant details...They look very romantic i think :) Thank you for sharing!
I remember you told me about a little wallaby that came to visit you one early morning. I smiled when i read about it :) They are so qute..They are an endangered species, aren`t they? I remeber a trip Terry and Steven Irwin took to find those little qute animals. But they were not so common and hard to find. Where exactly do you live in Queensland? I hope the weather is fine, that you feel good and that you have inspirations to be creative :) Have a nice week Angela! Best wishes, Aina
